It turned out to be more complex than he expected, with the French and British secret services (through Air Commodore Raymond) becoming involved. Going undercover as a pilot in a French airborne fire fighting unit, Biggles and Bertie has uncovered several leads: ex-Nazis, World War 2 French collaborators, Nazi seizures of Jewish art collections, mysterious cases of fires being ignited in the Saint-Victoire area.
